Copyright & DMCA Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
Tweely respects the rights of creators and brands, and we expect our users to do the same. This policy explains how to report content that infringes your copyright or trademark, how to respond if your content was removed, and how we deal with repeat infringers. It is part of our Terms of Service.
1. Our designated copyright agent
Send copyright notices to our agent, who is registered with the US Copyright Office:
[DMCA agent name], Copyright Agent, OneVault LLC
[DMCA agent postal address]
Email: [copyright@tweely.app]
Phone: [DMCA agent phone]
This address is only for copyright and trademark complaints. Other messages sent here will not get a reply.
2. How to send a copyright notice
Under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3)), your notice must include all of the following. If it does not, we may not be able to act on it.
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full legal name is enough), as the copyright owner or a person allowed to act for the owner.
- A description of the copyrighted work you say is infringed (or a list, if there are several).
- The exact Tweely link(s) to the material you want removed (for example the profile, short link, Spotlight or file URL), with enough detail for us to find it.
- Your name, postal address, phone number and email.
- This statement: "I have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
- This statement: "The information in this notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I am the owner, or authorized to act on behalf of the owner, of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed."
Before you send a notice, please consider whether the use could be fair use or otherwise allowed. Under §512(f), anyone who knowingly makes a false claim may have to pay damages, including costs and legal fees.
3. What we do after a valid notice
- We remove or disable access to the material quickly. For a short link, the link may show a notice instead of redirecting.
- We tell the user who posted it and send them a copy of the notice (we may remove your personal contact details except your name, where the law allows).
- We may share notices with the Lumen database (lumendatabase.org) or publish them in a transparency report, with personal contact details removed.
4. Counter-notice (if your content was removed by mistake)
If you believe your content was removed because of a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to our agent. Under 17 U.S.C. §512(g)(3), it must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- A description of the material that was removed and where it appeared before it was removed.
- This statement: "I swear, under penalty of perjury, that I have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled."
- Your name, postal address and phone number.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the US federal district court for the judicial district where your address is (or, if your address is outside the US, any judicial district in which OneVault LLC may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.
We will send your counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. If they do not tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action to stop the infringement, we will restore the material within 10 to 14 business days after we received your counter-notice, unless it breaks our other rules.
5. Repeat infringers
- We record valid copyright notices against the account that posted the material (a "strike"). Strikes that are withdrawn, or reversed after a counter-notice, are removed.
- If an account gets 3 strikes within 12 months, we close it. We may close an account after fewer strikes, or at once, for clear or serious infringement such as piracy.
- People whose accounts were closed for repeat infringement may not open new accounts.
6. Trademark and other complaints
If a handle, profile, link or product on Tweely misuses your trademark or pretends to be your brand, email [copyright@tweely.app] with your name and contact details, your trademark (with registration number and country), the exact Tweely link(s), and why it is confusing or misleading. Brand and public-figure handles can also be claimed through our handle claim process.
7. Outside the United States
You can also report infringement under the laws of your country, such as the EU Digital Services Act, using the same address or the "Report" button. Please give the same information as above. We review all notices and act on those that are valid. Appeals work as described in our Acceptable Use Policy.
8. Content hosted elsewhere
Many Tweely links point to other websites. We can remove or block the Tweely link, but we cannot remove content hosted on other sites. Please contact that site as well.
