Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
This policy sets the rules for everything on Tweely: profiles, links, short links, chat links, the chat widget, stickers and QR codes, Spotlights, business pages, group chats, direct chats and the AI front desk. It is part of our Terms of Service. It applies to account holders, team members and visitors.
1. Zero-tolerance content
You may not post, send, link to, sell, promote or ask for any of the following. One breach can lead to immediate and permanent account closure.
- Child sexual abuse and exploitation. Any content that sexualises, grooms or exploits anyone under 18, including drawn, AI-generated or "fictional" content. We remove it, close the account, keep the evidence, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to other authorities as the law requires.
- Adult and sexual content. Nudity, pornography, sexual chat for sale, sexual services, escort or "companion" ads, links to adult sites, and sharing intimate images without consent (including deepfakes).
- Drugs. Selling, buying, promoting or giving directions to get illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, or prescription medicines without the legal licence. This includes cannabis, even where it is legal locally.
- Terrorism and violent extremism. Content that supports, praises, recruits for or funds terrorist or violent extremist groups or attacks.
- Violence and threats. Threats, incitement to violence, glorifying violent acts, graphic violence posted to shock, and promoting self-harm or suicide.
- Hate. Attacks, slurs or dehumanising content against people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or serious disease.
- Scams and fraud. Phishing, fake giveaways, fake shops, advance-fee and romance scams, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, "get rich quick" or fake investment offers, fake reviews, and misleading links or QR codes.
- Illegal goods and services. Weapons, ammunition and explosives (and plans to make them), stolen goods, counterfeits, fake documents and IDs, hacking services, stolen data, human trafficking and exploitative labour, protected wildlife, and anything illegal where you or your audience are.
- Copyright and trademark abuse. Pirated films, music, software, courses or books, links to piracy sites, selling fakes, and using others' brands to mislead. See our Copyright & DMCA Policy.
2. Other things that are not allowed
- Harassment and bullying: targeted abuse, stalking, unwanted repeated contact, or sending people to attack someone.
- Privacy abuse: sharing other people's private information (such as phone numbers, addresses, IDs or photos) without consent (doxxing), or secretly recording people.
- Impersonation: pretending to be a person, brand, organisation or Tweely staff, or hiding who you are in order to mislead.
- Dangerous misinformation: false content likely to cause real-world harm, such as fake health cures, or lies about how to vote.
- Gambling: gambling, betting or lottery promotions, unless we agree in writing and the law allows it.
- Regulated goods without a licence: tobacco, vapes, alcohol, financial or crypto investment offers, and medical services, unless you follow all laws and licensing rules where your audience is.
- Malware and hacking: viruses, spyware, exploit kits, or links to them; trying to break into accounts or systems.
- Spam and fake activity: bulk or unwanted messages, fake accounts, bots, fake followers, clicks, views or ad traffic, and buying or selling accounts or handles.
- Misusing AI: teaching the AI front desk false, illegal or harmful information, making it claim to be human, trying to get it to break these rules, or using other people's AI allowance.
- Abusing the platform: scraping or collecting profiles or contact details in bulk; getting around limits, human checks, bans or security; overloading our systems; reverse-engineering Tweely; or reselling Tweely without our written permission.
3. Rules for chats, groups and the widget
- Only message people who want to hear from you. Do not add people to groups to spam them.
- Group owners and admins must remove content that breaks these rules when they see it.
- Businesses must not ask visitors for card numbers, passwords, government ID numbers or health data in chat.
- Put the widget only on websites you own or control, and follow our Business & Widget Terms.
4. How to report
- Use the "Report" button on any profile, link, Spotlight, group or chat, or email [abuse@tweely.app].
- Please tell us: the exact link or handle, why you think it is illegal or breaks our rules, and (unless it is about child abuse) your name and email. For illegal content in the EU, please also confirm that you believe in good faith that your report is accurate and complete.
- We confirm reports we receive with contact details and tell you what we decided.
- Copyright complaints follow our Copyright & DMCA Policy.
- If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
5. How we moderate
- We use automated tools and human review. Tools include link-safety checks (Google Web Risk), content checks (OpenAI moderation), spam and rate limits, and human checks (Cloudflare Turnstile).
- Tools can flag or hide content automatically, for example an unsafe link. Our team reviews reports and decides serious cases, such as permanent account closure.
- We act on reports quickly, carefully and without bias. We may not be able to review everything straight away.
6. What we can do
Depending on how serious the problem is, and at our discretion, we may:
- warn you;
- remove, hide, or limit the reach of content, or replace a link with a warning page;
- pause AI replies, chat, links, Spotlights or earnings;
- remove a handle, or remove team members;
- suspend or permanently close the account, and block new accounts by the same person;
- keep evidence and report to the police, NCMEC or other authorities.
When the law allows and it is safe, we tell you what we did, which rule it was based on, whether automated tools were used, and how to appeal (a "statement of reasons"). We keep records of accounts we close so we can stop the same person coming back and handle any legal dispute.
We may also suspend people who often send reports or complaints that are clearly unfounded.
7. Appeals
- If you disagree with a decision about your content or account (or about a report you made), you can appeal within 6 months by replying to our notice or writing to [appeals@tweely.app].
- A person who was not involved in the first decision will review it. We will tell you the result and reverse the decision if we got it wrong.
- EU users may also use a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under the Digital Services Act, or go to court.
- UK users may complain to us about illegal content, our moderation, or our failure to act, using the same address.
8. Contact points for authorities and users (EU Digital Services Act)
- Single point of contact for authorities and users: [dsa@tweely.app]. We accept messages in English.
- EU legal representative: [EU DSA legal representative name and address].
- Law enforcement requests: [lawenforcement@tweely.app].
- If we become aware of information suggesting a crime that threatens someone's life or safety, we tell the relevant authorities.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as new risks appear. The date at the top shows the latest version. Important changes will be announced in the app or by email.
